Thirty-five ears started from New York on the 11th July on the 861-mile touring competition for the Glidden trophy. Tho trial lasted twelve days, and of the vehicles which started no less than twentyeight finished, these comprising eight White steam oars and the following petrol cars — four Maxwells, three Popes, two Pierces, iwo Reps, and one each Peerless, Panhard, Dccauville, Napier, Rambler, Locomobile, Darracq, Cadillac, and Knox.
