ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, September 27.

There were again only moderate entries of stock at the Addington yards to-day, and there was a fair attendance. Beef was somewhat irregular of sale, but without much change in values. Fat lambs sold well, and there were only a few small lots of store sheep offered. Competition for fat sheep was confined to butchers, and prices ranged at a rather lower level than last week for all but prime heavy sheep. There was a poor sale for store and dairy cattle and store pigs.

Store Sheep. — A few lines of hoggets and one lot of wethers made up the yarding of store sheep, and they sold at about late rates. The principal lots sold were : 139 hoggets at 17s 6a, 69 at 17s 4d, 29 at 17s 2d, 37 at 14s, and 72 culls at 11s, and 32 wethers at 20s 9d. Fat Lambs. — There were 30 fat lambs penned, and they sold well, best sorts making from 20s to 24s 6d., and smaller 15s to 18s.

Fat Sheep. — The yarding of fat sheep was a moderate one. a considerable proportion not being well finished. Prime heavy sheep sold well up to the previous week's rates, but lightweights were easier, and a number of unfinished lots were bought by graziers. The range of prices was as follows : — Prime heavy wether 3, 25s to 295 ; medium, 22s to 245 ; 18s 3d to 21s; prime heavy ewes, 21s to 245; others, 17s lOd to 19s 9d; prime merino wethers, 19s 6d to 22s 7d; medium, 17s Id to 19s.

Fat Cat%.— The supply of beef totalled 167 head, niosfcJy useful steers. The sale was irregulai, and values generally were not up to those of the previous week. For Mr W. C. Parnham (Kaiapoi) 7 steeers were sold at from £8 10s to £9 12s 6d ; for Messrs Reid (Taieri), 28 steers at £8 to £12 7s 6d, and four heifers at £8 17s 6d to £9. Other steers brought £7 15s to £13 12s 6d; heifers, £7 5s 6d to £8 15s and £10 ss; and cows, £5 5s to £7 12s Gd — equal to 24s to 26s for prime, and 21s to 23s for medium per 1001b. A fair yarding of veal calves sold at from 7s 6d to i 3 Bs.

Store and Dairy Cattle. — There was a small mixed entry of store cattle, which met with a dull sale. The range of prices was: — Yearlings, 15s; 15 to 18 months, 23s 6d to 435; two-year-old steers, 665; two-year-old heifers, 555; dry cows, 22s to 52s 6d. The dairy cows were mostly medium sorts, and sales were made up to £8. Pigs. — The yarding of pigs was mostly made up of small stores and porkers. The few baconers offered sold well, and porkers were about the same price as the week before, while stores were dull of sale. Baconers made from 40s to 40s — equal to 3£d per lb; porkers, 23s to 35s — equal to 4d to -Cd per lb; medium stores, 12s to 18s 6<J; and weaners, 8s to 10s.
