September 27. — It has boon very wet throughout the di&tract this last two or tJire-3 weeks, but there have been no floods much, the ground being veiy dry, and suokinj the rain up almost as isoon as it falls. The footpaths about here badly need metalling, and the culverts require opening, there being waterholes up to a toot deep aJI over the footpath. Farming. — The farmers are all hard at work now, ploughing and sowing. The harvest as a nile will be a> bit backward !here this year, tie ra,in delaying- the farmers getting the ploughing dcaie. The weather is verj^ good fo^ the faw crops that are sown, and they t'Ught to fcoon gpiout above the ground.

Ball. — The Cambrians Oddfellows hold their arnual ball on tho lotOii of the month, and it proved: a groat success, the hall being packed as full as it could hold. The Grand March was led off by Miss A. Jones and! Mr J. Rutherford, who were followed by about 35 couples. Thci Morgan family provided! inspiriting music, while Mr E. Mcc made an efficaent M.C.

Mining. — The mining industry isi very quiafc here now. All tho claims are working night and day <so aa to ensure a good wasluip for. Christmas.
