STATE TEACHERS' SALARIES.
THE PROPOSED SCALE OF STAFFS AND SALARIES. ■ -. The following shows the "scale of staffs and salaries proposed in the Education Act Amendment Bill for mixed schools— i.e., schools to which all boys and girls jrf school age are admitted.:. —
sCafl above Scale is subject -to the following modificatdona and conditions- — '. (a) The irumiber of male assistants in any school must not exceed the number of female assistants. (b) At least one out of the first three assistants in any school nrmst be a woman. (c) At lewafc three out of the first-six assistants in any school must be women. (d) An assistant at £30 may b& subsituted for two pupil teachers. {©) Instead of appointing a pupil teacher, a board may add £45 lo the satey of a certificated assistant. - - •- '(f) Two pupil teachers may -be substituted for an assistant. -" _<g) Not more than two of tho changes (c) and (f) shall be allowed in any school. " - - JJi) A deduction of 10 per cent, ironu the salary as prescribed above shall be made in the - ' case of every 1 Tincertificated head or sole teacher or assistant; bu>t not so as to reduce the annual salary below j£Bs.
