Fat Cattle. — 251 head yarded, the greater proportion of which were medium quality steers and heifers, with an odd pen of prime heavy-weight cattle. This number proved far in excess of requirements, and prices showed a decline of from 10s to 15s per head, the fall being most noticeable in medium quality beef. Best bullocks brought £9 to £11; good, £7 10s to £8 15s; medium and light, £6 to £7 ss; best heifer 3, £6 10s to £8, good, £5 to £6 ss; medium and light, £3 15s to £4 17s 6d. Dalgety aucl Co. Fat Sheep. — To-day's market totalled 3040 3hcep and was made up for the most part of good io prime quality wethers, with a pen or two of extra prime ewes. This number was more than sufficient for the butchers, ant' in ihe absence of any expoat demand, the salo throughout was a dragging one. Prices at the commencement receded fully 2s to 2s Gd on last week's rates, but improved slightly towards the end of the sale. Best wethers fetched 24s 6d to 26s Sd; extra heavy realised v,p to 27s Gd; good wethers 22s to 245; others, to 21s ; best ewes., 22s te 245 : ethers, to 20s — Dalg'ety and Co. Fat Lambs. — The first of the season's camo forward to-day. Only eight being yarded. These met with a keen demand, and sold up to 23s 6s. Donald Reid and Co. Suckers and slips were m large supply but the sale was dull. Suckers, 5s to 10s; slips, 12s to 15s; porkers, 22s to 325; light baconers, 33s to 365 ; heavy do, 38s to 403 ; choppers, up to 60s. Sheepskins. — Medium-sized catalogues wera submitted a+ Tuesday's sale. Competition throughout was good, especially for coundpelted skins suitable for shipment. Buyers ■woto not disposed to advance on previous week's rates, but all on offer sold at prices on a par with kite vah.''es. Quotations : B«sfc merinos, 84d to 9d; medium, 7d to B^d; bast halfbreds and fine crossbieds, 81d to 9Jd; medium do, B}d to B|d; orossbreds, 6|d to B£d; dead skins, 6£d to Bd. Babbits-kins. — There was a full attendance of buyers at Monday's sale, when fairly larga catalogues were again offered, and all lots were keenly competed for. Prices ruling wore fully up to previous week's rates, and in the case of several lots of selected does an advance of Jd per lb was secured. Quotations: Selected does* 20d to 20£ d; best winters to 17|d; second winters, lod to 16d; incoming winters, 13Jd to 16Jd; autumns and incoming winter blacks. 17d to 24d; winter blacks and silver greys, 25d to 36|d. Hides.— No sale held sincp last report. Tallow and Fat.— Consignments coming to hand meet with a good demand at the following rfales: — Beot rendered, 17s 6d to 19s imedium do, 13s 6d to 16s; best fat, 13s to 14s. Gram.— Wheat : Prime milling quality is in good demand, Tuscan finding most favour with buyers. Holders of good lines are not, however, ansdous to quit, and as the northern, market is firm present indications are that prices will .advance. Medium quality has little or no inquiry, but is being sold for local requirements as fowl wheat, the latter, being scarce, commanding a high price. Quotations: Seed wheat, to 3s 6d; prime milling, 3s Id to 3s 3d ; medium milling and best whols fowl wheat, 2s lOd to 2s ll£d; broken ancl damaged 2s 6d to 2s 9d per bushel (sacks extra). Oats: Stocks in local stores are very ligbl, and very few consignments are comin? forward. The export demand is small, and tha most of the feed oats offering are required c or local consumption. Seed oats are in fair demand up to 2s 3d; prime milling, Is l(Hd to Is lid; good to best feed, Is 9|d to Is lOd: inferior to medium, Is 7d to Is 9d per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes.— The market is quiet and dull, ana sales are difficult to effect at a reduction of from 10s to 15s per ton ou values ruling a week ago. Derwents are more in favour with buyers than white sorts. Quotations : Best Derwents, £10 10s to £11 : b&st white sorts, £9 15s to £10 10s ; others, £9 to £9 10s per ton (bags in). Chaff.— The market is not well supplied with prime oaten pheaf, and this quality i 3 in demand, and readily cleared at full market rates. Medium and discoloured chaff ha 3, however, only a moderate .sale. Quotations: Piime oaten' sheaf. £3 5s to £3 10s; medium, £3 to £3 2s 6d; light and discoloured, £2 10a to £2 15s per ion (bags extra). Turnips. — The market is at present in short supply, and best swedes are inquired for at from 14s 0d to 15s per ton (loose, ex truck). Straw. — The market is now better stipplicd. and prices site if anything easier. Quotations :' Best oaten, 32s Gd to 355; and best wheateii, 30s to 32s 6d per ton (pressed).
