INVERCARGILL CLUB NOTES AND CRITICISMS.
Dear Dot, — I am sure the club will heartily thank Hiawatha for her very interesting report of the social. I ani pleased to know she enjoyed herself. Ulondel's account, also, was very good. Last meeting was a splendid one, the debate: "Are Girls of the Present Day "Overeducated?" proving very interesting; indeed, some members were so excited that the president had to call them to order. The president and secretary are of tti». opinion that a girl's sphere is the home, and not wasting time and health in tecuring an "M.A." after her nrme. Ceres says, "Tkpy jiist manage to accomplish the honour when they gel married, and what is the good of .a MA. or B.A. for a man's dinner?" It really inusL be very annoying to the president when he asks a member to read a paper to be answered with a shake of the head.' I think the least a member ca.' do when He or she has not written a paper is to read the one that is handed t"> them. Homa is a valuable addition to the club, being a. real entertainment in himself, and will soon distinguish himself as an orator I arcj pleased to say the Invercargill De bating Club was ably represented at the recent competitions. Hazel has gone to the country for a long holiday, and her familiar faoe is much missed. as she is a good member and regular attender. During impromptu' speaking re fame or wealth, Dado and Maidie thought they would like a little of both. Two well-known members of the club are contemplating a visit to Queenstown shortly. —Yours truly, SNAPPER.
