ROCKS AND BILLOWS.

Grey rocks, great rocks, cave-charmed and sLc en-haunted, To thee the mighty billows ever call, And east themselves with open arms undaunted : Pure is their love — love that will conquec all. Billows foamed, crowned, O but to know such passion ! We idly sit and dream a dream of life ; We idly stroll and talk in careless fashion, While the great ocean moans in bitter strife. Dull hearts are ours that fear a love too earnest, Dim minds that cannot grasp eternity; But ages pass, O ocean, and thou yearnest For thy deaa- rocks with ceaseless melody. — J. Y. B. Inv&rcargill, August 15, 1905.
