ADDING TON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH August 16.

At the Addington yards to-day there was a laige entry of stock, but the quality of some of th'a fat cattle and she^ap was exceptionally good. There were several pirimie lines of both from tho Amuri Station. The attendance was karge, including numerous visitors from different parts of the colony. Beef sold at rates equal to those of last weak, avd though fat sheep, except special lmea, opened rather lower, they impioved towaids the close of tho sale. Fat lamb 3 ci-d fat hoggets soid veiy well, and there was a. lieem diema-nd! for store sheep, young breeding 1 ~ ewes especially. Porkers showed am advance in. price, and store pigs sold veiy well, but there vieie no buyors fcr baroners. In storo and dairy cattle there was but litfe business done.

Store Sheep — The yarding was made up principally of eves in lamb, with a few pens of wethers and hoggets. There was a keen demand for all classes, especially young ewes, and prices were exceptionally good. Tho principal lots gold were: — 481 four and six-tooth crossbred' ewes at 26s £>d ; 282 two, four, and six-tooth at 26s 2d ; 91 two and four-tooth at 24s 4d; 173 eight-tooth at 23s Id; 257 soundmouthod at 235; 150 at 20s Id to 2Ds! 9d; 55 aged, dry ewes ai 10a 4d; 68 wotheis at 2,0s 6d ; 46 at 20s ; 67 hoggets at 15s 7d. to 17s IOd ; 351 at 16 3 Bd.

Fat Lambs.— About a dozen new season's fat lambs were penned, a.nd they sold at from 15s to 19s 6d, and! one extra at 27a.

Fat Hoggets. — There was only a small entry, ever half the nrmber being comprised in one "me from Cheviot. They sold fully up to late rates, some of tho smaller lots being not well finished, The chief sales wore:— l 3at 255;

325 at 19s lid; 21 at 18s; 70 at 16s 9d to 17s lOd; ]7 at 16a lOd; 19 at 15s. Fat Sheep. — Tho supply was a moderate one in point of numbers, but mc.uded &ome extra prime lines of half bred and menno wethers. The Erale did not open quite up to the previous week'r rates, the butchezs' requirements evidently not leing so laxge. Towards the close of tbo sale, however, there was an improvement, a.nd prices fully recovered. Ths rango of prices was — Extra prime wethers 28s to 30s 3d ; prime, 24s to 27s 6d : lighter, 21s to 235; •extra prime ewes, 22s 6d to 265; good to primo, 19s to 21s 9d; aged, 16s to 18s; extra prime merino wethers, 23s 6d to 295 ; prime, 389 6d to 21s 2d, others, 13s 6d to 17s 2d.

Fat Cattle — The nurnbsr penned totalled 154, and a propoition of the yarding was of very prime quality. There was a fair demand, and practically no change in values. For J. H. Davison (St. Leonards), 1 steer was so.d rt £14 ; for D. Rutherford (Leslie Hills), fe steers at £10 12s 6d to £12 10s, and 6 'heifers at £8 2s 6d to £9 7s 6d; for Bealey Bros. (Hororata), 4 steers at £8 15s to £13 15s, and 2 heifers at £fi 7s 6cl to £8 15s. Others roadie from £6 17s 6d to £10 10s ; heifers, £5 os to £8 7s 6d ; and oows, £i 10s to £7 10s — equal to 22s to 23s for primo 39s 6d to 21s far medium, and 17s 6d to 19s for cow and inferior beef per 1001b. A fan entry of veal calves sold at from 7s 6d to Bos.

Stoic and Dairy Cattle. — There was practically no entry of store cattle, aaid a small yarding of' dairy cows met with an irregular sale, the bsst price being £7 15s.

Pigs. — Only a few bacou P^gs weire penned, and there was no demand for them. Porkers . were firmer, and there was vary good sal© for stores. Porkers sold at from 28s to 365, and smaller 22s to 27s 6d — equal to 4^d to 5d per Jb. A line of 35 rough pigs from the Chatham Islands made 30s to 40a for fate, and 15s to 30s for stores. One hundred store pigs from Cheviot made 18s to 235, other medium stores! sold at 12s to 18s, and weaners at, 9s to lls. M
