FATALITY IN THE HARBOUR.

Much anxiety is felt in West Harbour as to what has become of two young men named James M'lvor and William M'Callum, who left Ravensbourne on Wednesday in a small boat, apparently with, the intention of proceeding to Broad Bay, or somewhere down the harbour, on a shooting excursion Both were expected back the same evening, and their prolonged absence, together with the fact that the boat was found swamped not far from Port Chalmers op Friday afternoon (and it is understood with the guns on board), lends colour to the supposition that a serious calamity has overtaken Hie young men. A heavy sea was running in the harbour on Wednesday, and an attempt to cross it in a small boat would be attended with danger. The boat is said to have had no sail. The constables stationed at West Harbour and at Anderson's Bay are instituting inquiries and search on either side of the harbour. M'lvor is about 24 year? of age and M'Callum about 18 years, the latter being the eldest son of Mr M. M'Callum, engineer in the Union Company's service.

Monday.

A seaich for the other young man is «hll being conducted. M'lvor was 22 yeaia of age.
