T^rt-Ri v. Di-kedik,
Considerable interest was taken in the match beiween the Taieri and Duncdm Clubs at Mcsgiel on Saturday, as the result would m all probability decide the destination of the " A ' pennant for the season, both clubs having won all their matches. The Taieri team succeeded in winning a hard-fought match by a majority of 8 points. Two of the Taieri skips defeated their opponents. There; was a tie on the twenlyfirdi; head in a third rink, and the Dunedin skip vsas successful in the fourth rink. Taking the play all lound, it was scarcely up to expectations. On No. 2 rink Bentley had Mackie in trouble at an early stage, and was five points to the gcod when seven heads had been played. The eighth head was disastrous to the Taieri skip, as Bentley, with a fine shot, enabled his side to scoie 6. The scoring was fairly equal from this up to the twenty-first end. The Dunedin team were lying thiee or four, when Mackie, with his last bowl, playedl a brilliant shot, and scored 1 point. On No. 3 rink Hunter, for Dunedin, was 7 points to the good at the tenth head, but most of his team then went off, and Neill, playing a fine game, turned defeat into a victoiy by 4 points. He is to be congratulated on his win against the Dunedin veteran. Carswell, who was playing a great game, and driving successfully, scored 11 to M'Laren's 2 at the end of the sixth head, and, getting in 5 at the seventh head, the position did not look too well for the Dunedtin skip, who dia not appear to get a gxip of the green until the game was half over. In the last 10 heads M'Lfien scoied 9 to Carswell's 7. Tho game between Sinclair and Campbell on No. 4 rink was, perhaps, the most attractive. There was very little driving, and some fine drawing was done by both sides. Tho Dunedin players had the best of it at the start, and were 9 points to the good when 10 heads had been played. Campbell then got his men together, and in the succeeding 11 heads picked up the leeway and madte a tic of it on the last head. Playeis and scores: — Taieri. 1. J. C. Hodges, TV. Allan, D. L.
