For Burns ami Scalds. — Always keep carbonate of soda in the house — it is usefiil £or so m.vny purposes. For burns anl scalds it is an excellent remedy. The surface of the burn should be coy :sd v,-itU it, either dry or just damped. It relieves the pain caused by the bites or stings « f insects. A small saltspoonful in. half a tumbler of vrater -will relieve heartburn and indigestion, and if taken with tepid -srafi last thing at right will frequently induci sleep in restless persons.
