Dairy Cattle.— The demand continues good for the right sort, close to profit. Stronach, Morris, and Co. sold for Mr J. Sneddon, cows at £5 15s. Store Cattle. — With the continued diy weather and decline m values for beef there is less inquiry for these, and less money has now to be accepted to make sales. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold for Messrs G. Guyton, A. Campbell, Andrew Liddell, and others, 10 head at current rates.

Fat Sheep. — 2048 submitted, amongst which weie some prime heavy-weight wethers. The supply was rather beyond the limit of requirements, prices for prime wethers being about on a par with those of last week, all other descriptions being rather easier. Tallow and Fat. — Supplies are on the small side, and buyers are keeping prices down aa nrach as possible. Quotations: Best tallow,. 19s to 225; medium, 16s to 183 6d; caul fat 15s to 16s; lough fat, 12s to 14s. ' Hides. — No sale since last report. Wool.— Next sale will ha lield on Fi-iday, sth" February, when catalogues promise to be of average size. Recent cables from London are very satisfactory, but the ris«s were anticipated by buyers at last sale. This fact should' be borne in mind, and vendors must not expect a corrftspond'irg increase at next 'ocal sales, although prices shrould bo somewhat better. Catalogues close on February 1, so as to allow sufficient time to have wool ready. Grain. — Wheat: Millers are buying sparingly, and as local stocks do not contain a larga proportion of prime samples business passing is not great. Fowl wheat is more readily; placed than formerly, the quantity available being small. Quotations: Prime milling', 3s to 3s 3d; medium to good. 2s 7d to 2s lid; best who!" fowl wheat, 2s 5d to 2s 7d; broken and inferior, Is 9d to 2s 3d. Oats There is a gcod demand for prime milling samples and! for bright seed. Inferior quality, which cornl.rises a considerable part of these in store, is not sought after, and is difficult to dispose of. Potatoes. — Consignments are row veiy plentiful, and prices have citeolined accordingly. Prime kidneys now only command £'i to £2 10s; medium to gaod, £1 10s to £2. Chaff. — Owing to increased supplies buyers are not prepared to do business at late rates. Prime samples have fair sale, but medium i^ neglected. Prime oaten sheaf, £2 17s 6d ta £3 2s Gd; medium to good, £2 5s to £2 12s 6d; inferior, £1 to £2. Straw is worth 20s to 30s, according to quality.
