GERALDINE RACING CLUB.
' The annual meeting of the Geraldine Ksoir.g Cub v*9 held in the Geraldine Hotel last ' week, when there waa a- good attendance of members, Mr B. R. Macdouald (president) in ■the chair. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £20 8s 6d. The Chairman congratuSated the club on another successful year, despite the bad weather met with at th* spring meeting. Although the expenditure amounted to about £50 more— including increased stakes— than last year, /.he club had come out with a credit on the right side, and tho whole indebtedness of the club (trustees and everything) mow was only £30. The Programme Committee jwould no doubt have to cons.der whether it ;would not be advisable to increase the stakes year. The innovation made last year in Slaving a- hunters' hurdle race was a great sue"cess irom tho club's point of view, and he .-thought it would bs wise to continue tp hold (races of this kind. Sezcral improvements had 'recently been made to the cour»«, and one that Seas appreciated at the last race meeting was ;the new arrangement made -with regard to the fiuncheon bo»th. Several' more improvement* Vould be carried out this year, amongst which jwould orobab'.y be tho shifting and enlarging of Hhe totalisator. The press room would also be. flfurnishecl to meet the requirements of the in-'er-ea&ed number of reporters from pa-pera in Vlifferent parts of th-e colony. During the past year the membership of the club had increased ibeyond the most sanguine expectations of tho committcs, and ii wa3 still increasing.
