ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, April 29.
There were fair yarding and a good attendance at the Addington market to-day. Fat Cattle.—There was an entry 01 150, which consisted principally of cows and heifers. The demand was keener than usual, and prices consequently higher than recent rates. Steers realised £8 10s to £10 15s. Heifers fetched £6 7s 6d to £8 103. Cows sold at from £4 173 6d to £8 7s 6d. Beef ruled from 27s to 30s per 1001b. Fat Sheep.—There was a large yarding, which comprised a fair proportion of prime wethers and good quality ewes, but many of the pens were filled with half fat ewe 3, and for these the demand was poor, and a draggiriS sale resulted. Butchers and export buyMß competed keenly for wethers, which maintained iatt ratee, but in ewes there was a drop of fully Is per head. The late hour at which the sale, concluded tended to injure the market. The range of prices was:—Freezing wethers, 16s 3d to 19s 3d; extra heavy, to 20s sd; best butchers' ewes, 16s to 18b ; medium, 12s 6d to 15s 6d , freezing ewes, lls 3d to 16* 9d; others. 8s 3d to 12s Fat Lambs.—There, was n fair yarding, the «ii:try numbenr"- nbout 2600, but as butchers are now restr:r> ■ g their purchases of lambi, price* have suffered in ro-^equence. Pigs.—There was r small yarding, and the weakening tendency of the market shown at lecent sales was again noticeable.
