LAND FOR SETTLEMENTS ACT. Improved Farms for Incase. HATUMA SETTLEMENT, HAWKE'S 8AY.— 25,737 acres, divided into 54 sections, for disposal on lease in perpetuity, of areas varying from 111 acres to 774 acres, rentals from 4s 3d to 8s 4d per acre per annum ; and four small grazing runs for lease for 21 years with right of renewal, of areas varying from 1134 acres to 1509 acres, rentals from 3s 3d to 6s 2d per acre per annum. The Hatuma Settlement is situated in one of the finest districts in the North Island, 50 miles south of Napier, on Main Trunk Railway, close to Waipukurau, and nine miles from Waipawa. - The land is open, of good- quality — the downs and flats adapted for general agricultural and dairy-farming ; depth of soil, from 6in to I2in, on clay subsoil. The small grazing runs comprise wellwatered limestone ranges, suitable for mixed farming. Open for application, at Napier and Waipukurau. on 25th APRIL. 1901. Ballot will be held at Waipukurau on the 27th APRIL. KOHIKA SETTLEMENT, SOUTH CANTERBURY.— 3B33 acres, divided into 15 sections, for disposal on lease in perpetuity, in areas varying from 139 acres to 391 acres, at rentals from 5s 9d to 9s 4d per acre per annum. This settlement is part of the wellknown Otaio estate, formerly owned by Mr Tesehemaker : is situated between Timaru and Waimate, 20 miles from the former town and 11 miles from the latter. Land well adapted for mixed farming; in good heart; has produced heavy crops of wheat, and up to 60 bushels of oats to the acre. Depth of strong black soil, 7m to Bin. Climate temperate ; sufficient rainfall for general farming. Open for application, at Christchurch and Timaru, on 13th MAY, 1901. -Ballot will be held at Timaru on 18th MAY. MANAWHATA SETTLEMENT, WELLINGTON (formerly known as Morrison's Estate).— l 226 acres, divided into seven sections, for disposal on lease iv perpetuity, in areas varying from 98i acres to 319 acres, at rentals from -12s 9d to 153 per acre per annum. This settlement is situated between Rongotea and Oroua Bridge railway station, in a prosperous district, near important townships. TWie land is first class, comprising grassed flat 3 suitable for dairy farming and fattening stock. Open for application, at Wellington and Palmcrston Noitli, on TUESDAY. 14th May, 1901. Ballot will bo held at Palmei-ston Noith on 16th MAY.
