Messrs A. Morilzson and Co. report for week ending September 4: — "Wheat. — There is a steady demand for prime samples at late quotations. Other sorts have also a little more inquiry than of late. We quote: Best velvet, 2s 6d to 2s 8d; medium, 2s 3d to 2s sd; best Tuscan, 2s 6d to 2s 8d; medium, 2s 4d to 2s sd; fowl wheat, Is lid, to 2s Id. Oats: The demand has not been so active diiring the last few days, and to force sales slightly lower prices would have to be accepted. We quote: Best feed, Is 9d; niediuni and inferior, Is 3d to Is BJd per bushel; Sutherlands, Is. 9|d. Barley: Prime samples have some attention, but in medium qualities there is little business passing. Feed sorts are quoted at Is 3d to Is 6d; milling, Is 6d to Is lOd; prime malting, 2s 3d to 2s 6d; Lakes, 3s to 3s 3d for,, primest samples, but medium qualities are only saleable at low prices. Ryecorn, nominally, 2s to 2s 3d, no sale. Maize, 3s bushel. Prussian blue peas, 4s 6d/ bushel. Scotch and English tares, 5s 6d per,, bushel. Flour : We quote £&. Oatmeal in 25' Sy £10. Pearl barley, £10 10s. Bran, £3 10s. Pollard, £4. Nelson hops are quoted _at 10-1 to lid (f.0.b.). Chaff: Fair demand for best qualities. Prime, £2 5s to £2 10s ; medium, £1 17s 6d to £2 2s 6d. Eyegrass: Buyers'' ideas of values are : For farmers"' , dressed, Is 2d to Is sd; extra, to Is 9d;| machined, 2s to 2s 3d; extra, 2s 6d per bushel. We have a good inquiry. Cocksfoot, 2|d to 3d for 'farmers' lots, and. 3£d. to 4d f*?
Machined. Linseed, £10 to £12. Pressed straw, 27s 6d. Clover hay, £3 to £3 ss. Nitrate 'of soda, £15. Clovers, rape, etc., all fresh. Potatoes. — Supplies in excess of the demand. Prime Oamarus difficult to sell at 32s 6d; medium, 25s to 27s 6d; kidneys, slow, 20s. Hides, 3id to 4Jd, according to weight and condition. Tallow. — Rough fat, lls 6d to 12s 6d; ren£>red, 14s to 16s. Horsehair, Is 2d to Is 4d. Sheepskins. — Crossbreds, 2s 3d to ss ; extra, to 5s 6d. Lambskins, Is 4d to 2s 9d; extra, to 3s 4d. Pelts, 6d to 2s. We held ouiusual sale of skins on Tuesday, when there was a good demand. Rabbitskins.— We offered a large catalogue this week, and, after good competition, cleared the lot at price 3 which show an advance of jjd per lb on last week's sales. Summer, from -6d to 8d; small, -3d to sd; autumns, 9d to lid ; early winters, llJd to 14d ; winters, 14d to 16d; selected, to 16fd per lb. We have now erected a' complete clover-clean-ing plant, and all our other machinery up-to-date is the finest plant in the Southern Hemisphere. Farmers are invited to inspect. Pigs. — Sizes tip to 1601b at 3d, over that -weight, 2d to ■ 2|d ; coming •to hand more plentifully. Hams, Gkl to 7d; rolls, 51d to fid; flitches, s|d to 6d; middles, 6d. - Honey, 4d to 4Jd.; small tins, 5d per lb. Beeswax, Is Ccl. Walnuts, scl to - 6d. • Roosters, 3s to 3s 6d; hens, 2s 6d to 2s 9d; ducks, 3s, 4s G:l; geese, 5s to 5s 6d. Turkeys: Cocks, from 6d to 7d ; hens, sd. These quotations are ior prime quality. Butter cases, 17s per dozen, net on truck;, Dunedin. Onions, 5s cwt.
