THE PREMIER'S CABLES.
NEWS FROM OUR CONTINGENTS. The Premier on Monday received the following cables, which he has placed at the service of the press! of the colony : — From Sir Alfred Milner, dated September 2:— " E. W. L. de Strange, first New Zealand contingent (mounted infantry), released by_ the enemy. Arrived at "Warm Baths on 30th August." From Major Cradoek, dated from Pretoria: — "Returned to-day from the Rustenburg expedition. .Regret to say 3E6 Trooper Reid died of enteric fever at Johannesburg on the Bth inst. Lieutenant Findlny and Captain Hiitson have received wounds. The foi-mei is returning. The latter has gone to England. 357 R. R. Kcilworfch is progressing favourably. We are marching east tomorrow, under Mahon." From Lieutenant-colonel Robin: — "Major Jowsey rejoining. , Gilbert Son, Collett, Howcll, and 220 horses of Ormazan received to-day. Police exported to rejoin about 25th September. Lieutenant Seddon here yesterday. Health of all at front good."
