I The monthly meeting of the executive ," of tho Otago Central Railway League was I held on Monday evening, and attended by Messrs Barron (chairman), Kempthorne, liazlett. Park, Stronach, Jolly. Bathgate, Howden, and Hislop. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs Heidman and Scott. ' The> latter at the Fame time wrote resigning his position on the executive, owing, to him,' i having another engagement on the ~nights of the league's meeting. ' : Mr J. H. Hanson (secretary of the "Workers' Political Committee) wrote ,?tliat : the question of sending representatives "to the league's- meeting 'was fully discussed, by hia committee, who could not see their " way to (omply with \he request. — The letter wa3 t received. Millar, M.H.R., in reply to the league's letter a&kina; what was the outcome of the meeting of Otago members to discuss lite question of getting the bridges over the i Manuherikia, stntSQ thai no meeting wasJ convened, as the necessity ceased to exist, j when the Otago members learnt that -the 1 work \\a-> in hand and tenders for the bridges ■ were invited in the New Zealand Times o£ the 13 Hi August, and, as the Minister said, in Dunedin and other papers also. Mr J. F. ' Arnold, AI.Tf.R.. also wrote that no meeting i of membei'o had been held, and stated that ! lie was in full sympathy with the work, and would do all in 'his power to have the work pushed on viilh all the rapidity possible. — The letter-* were received. It was resolved that the following telei gram be j-ent tn the senior member for Dun- ,■ edin : — "'The Otago Central Railway League' i desire lo thank l.ue Government for the manS wifv in v.hich rhey are at present pushing on the railway, and would thank Otago members if' they would, ascertain about what; date the xailway will probably be opeii to Alexandra."
