THE BUCKLER BURN GOLD DREDGING COMPANY.

TO THE EDITOR Sir — Some time since I was induced to take shares in the above company, said to be somewhere about the head of Lake Wakatipu. From the commencement there has always appeared to be something wrong — some difficulty about title, or some one attempting to jump the claim, or some squabble with neighbouring claims. However, after weary waiting, the shares were allotted, and I supposed that everything would go on smoothly. Such howeve" has not been the case. I have just received a notice from the secretary of the company stating that the claim ha's proved undredgeable, and that the directors have arranged to amalgamate with the El Dorado Company, Buller River, West Coast. My view of the matter is that the Bucklerburn shareholders should on no account have anything to do with the proposed amalgamation, as in all probability it would lead to endless complications and litigation. We now know where we are, and should insist upon the directors winding up the company. I hope to see a big and determined meeting with this object on the sth inst. — I ani,"Vic., Faihplay. REPORTS PROM WORKING DREDGES. The Hartley and Riley Beach Dredging Company (Limited) washed up on Friday for a return of 1370z 2dw-t of gold for 132 hours' dredging. The Secretary of the Junction Electric Dredging Company reports the following returns : — No. 1 dredge, 450z 7dwt for five days' work; No. 2 dredge, 730z 2dwt for five days' work. The Waimuniu Extended Company report a return of lloz Sdwt of gold for 123 hours' work. The Secretary of the Electric Dredging Company reports a. return of 2040z for five days' dredging. The Secretary of the Inch Valley Gold Dredging Company (Limited) reports a return of 340z for 134 hours' dredging. ' The Secretary of the Earnscleugh Company reports the following returns: — No. 2 dredge, 103oz 17dwt for 120 hours ; No. 1 dredge, 16oz Bdwt. Mr Laurence Ryan, Alexandra, reports a return of 105oz 12dwfc from the Perseverance dredge. Mr J. J. Gibson, Lawrence, reports that the ret am from the Success dredge was 360z sdwt 9gr for 138 hours' work. The Secretary of the Olrig" Dredging- Company (Limited) reports a return of 16oz 14dwt for about 150 hours' dredging. The dredge is still opening out. The Secretaiy of the Cromwell Gold Dredging Company reports a return of 87oz for 108 hours' dredging. Prospects good. The Dredgemaster of the Golden Beach Hydraulic Elevating and Dredging Company (Limited) reports a return of 530z 18dwt sgr gold for 121 hours' dredging. The Secretary o.f the Charlton Creek Company reports a return of 330z of gold for 13-1 hours' work. The Secretary of the Golden Gate Dredging Company reports a return of 220z 15dwt for last week. , The Secretary of the Unity Gold Dredging Company reports a return of 102oz lOdwt for 136 hours' dredging.
