The Mine Manager of the Alpine mine re- . ports as follows: — "The eastern crosscut at j the end of No. 7 level is now in a total distance | j of 42ft. At a distance of 33ft a track of reef j was picked up. It is about sft wide, and con- ' tains a few bioken veins of quaitz. As it is bearing towards the level the further extension ot the level has been started in order to iiftei-se-,t the track further ahead to the north. The western crosscut has been driven 20ft for the | week, making a total distance of 97ft. _ The coimtiy has been of a soft dark slate of -a kindly j natuie."
