Problem 1888.
to the ynrroii.
Sir, — As one interested, might I suggest to would-bo scirers of the problem on wliii.h an, n.trresting contioversy is lagino, in^. your' columns, that if they slatft out to show" a, wir !or a draw, they should follow'^tho play*ti>-s conclusion, not publish 12 -or 16 moves for a wia, and then ask others for the draw;; v/hen it can be just as fairly asked, where is't'he win? It may be cunning, sir, but it is not draughts. In conclusion, I would advise "Tommy Atkins ' and '.'Bobs'' to take a lesson from the fi.il" and splendid analysis published by "Czar." .There was ability, pluck, and care exhibited in that to a large degree. — I am, etc., DRAUGHTS PLAYEE.
P-S. — If players are afraid to stake their opinion on a, position, and back it up by published analysis, then surely it is only fair tha 1 ' they should leave it alone?— D. P.
