Messrs T. E. Shiel and Co. report for week ending, March 21: — "Wheat — Purchasers not yet operating freely. T\'e quote best velvet and Tuscan, 2s 6d per bushel ; medium, 2s 5d ; good whole fowl wheat, 2? to 2s I'd; broken and inferior, Is 7d to Is 9d.

Northern malting, fair average quality, 2s 43 to 2s 6d in Dunedin.

Chaff. — Market firm, and values advanced considerably on late quotations. We expect lcvier shortly. We quote at present: Best oaten sheaf (old), JE3 12s 6d; new, £3 7s 6d; medium, 3s to 3s sd ; infeiior, 45s to 50s per ton.

Potatoes. — Good Derwents 21 c scarce, and prices higher. First to arrive will meet good market. We quote : Best, £1 12s 6d to £2 155,; medium, £2 10s; kidneys, not in- demand for best, we quote 2s to 2s 5d per ten.

Butter. — Market steady. We advise consignment of all dairy, milled, and separator butter to our address, care Cool Stores, Port Chalmers. Butter boxes, with best parchment linings, 17s per dozen on truck, Dunedin.

Pigs. — There is excellent demand for good, baconers of medium weights at 3Jd per lb. Onions. — Best Canterbury grown, 4s per cwt. Honey. — Best extracted, 4£d per lb.

Poultry. — Very plentiful and cheap. We hope for improvement. Special auction sale every Friday at 10 o'clock. Boosters, 2s to 3s 9d; hens, 2s 8d to 3s 3d; ducks, 3s to 3s 9d; geese, 4s to 5s per pair; turkeys — cocks, good, Ocl per lb ; hens, 5d to 6d.
