THE CHAMPION GOLD MINING COMPANY.

At a meeting of the directors of the abovenamed company, held at Lawrence on Wednesday, 7th, the Secretary reported that all the issuable shares of the new issue — viz., 6400, — ■had been applied for by members of the comjpany. Of that number 400 shares were included which had been reserved when the company was originally floated. The Chairman (Mr Herbert) said it was particularly gratifying to learn that the shareholders had so much confidence in the value of the property held by the company. No time weald be lost in pushing on with the dredse

which it was intended should work the company's claim. Mr Roberts, the engineer, had practically ananged for the boring of the ground with the object ol ascertaining what length of ladder woiild be required, and after these operations had been completed no time would be lost in getting the plans and specifications prepared.

Mr ' John Thompson all along was fully satisfied the shareholders would not allow any of the new issue shsied to so to the public, and by taking up all the shares now issued it showed that they had the fullest confidence that if the river and bank claims held by the coixix^any were really valuable piopertie=>. In glancing over the list of applications, he noticed that two of the shareholders had each applied for 1000 shares, and that all the directors had applied for their quota, and in some instances m excess of their qitota. When this information became public, it would show investors that the directors, as well as the other shareholders, recognised that they were in possession of a mining property that would prove to be of immense value.

After the shares had been allotted and some othsr business dealt with the meeting adjourned.
