GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORTS,
Messrs Donald Reid and Co. report that prices ruled as under at then auction sale on Monday: —
Oats. — Our catalogue was comprised of medium to good feed lots, and was cleared at prices on a, par with late quotations. Good to best feed sold at Is lid to 2s ; medium, Is lOd to Is lOJd per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat. — Prices for prime milling quality are unchanged. Medium quality is neglected, and fowl wheat saleable at late values — viz., for good whole wheat, 2s to 2s Id; broken and damaged, Is 9d to Is lid per bushel (sacks in).
Potatoes. — We submitted several lots, for which there was poor competition. We quote: Best kidneys, 35s to 40s; others, 25s to 30s per ton (sacks in).
Chair. — We catalogued about 50 tons. There was fair competition, and our catalogue was cleared at prices a- shade in advance of late quotations. Best oaten sheaf sold at £2 15s to £3 ; extra heavy, to £3 2s ; good, £2 10s to £2 l'2s 6d; medium, £2 to £2 7s Gd per ton (bags extra).
Messrs Dalgety anr 1 Co. (Limited) report having held their weekly auction sale on Monday, when the attendance was fair.
Oats. — Our catalogue was made lip of inferior to medium feed, for which classes there is very little demand. We quote: Prime milling (Sutherland), 2s Oid to 2s Id; good to best short feed, Is lid to 2s; fair to medium, Is 9d to Is lOd ; inferior, Is 6d to Is 8d ; Danish; Is 8d to Is 10d; blacks, Is lOd (sacks extra). Wheat. — The demand for prime milling continues fa'rly Ftiong, and all really prime samples can be placed at f com 2s 5d to 2s 6d ; mechum (nominally), 2s 3d to 2s 3kl; fowl feed, 2s to 2s Id (sacks m).
Potatoes. — Market well supplied, and all sorts hard to place. Prime bring horn £1 15s to £2; mediuji, 25s to 30s per ton. Chuff. — Prime meets with good inquiiy at late rates, but other sorts are hard to dispose of. Prime, £2 iss> to £d , medium to good, £2 10s to X 2 12s Gel; infer.or, £2.
