SKIN AND HIDE REPORT.
Messrs Remshardt and Co. (near railway; station) renort as follows: — Rabbitßkins.— Supplies have been rather larger this week owing^ to some station lines being among the offerings. Owing, however, to the high reserves placed on these, they were not sold, but passed in at 18id for the first does. On the whole, prices were unchanged, the highest being again 18|d, which we paid for one choice parcel of selected does. Values; of medium and low sorts were rather easier. Sheepskins. — There is an active demand for merinos and halfbred3 at firmer prices, -while crossbreds also have more attention. We have done a considerable business this week in all kinds at prices very much in favour of sellers. Hides and Calfskins. — The tone of the market for most kinds of hides remains firm, good, sound heavies being especially in demand. Regarding calfskins, we would call attention to the fact that salted ones, if carefully done, are worth much more than dry skins, and that every cut reduces their value 3d to 6d each. Fat. — Market steady at late rates. Hair.— Market unchanged.
