WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.
Messrs Moritzson and Hopkin report for week ending September 21. Wheat. — There are now inquiries being made, and during the week we have sold a few lines at quotations. We expect to see a better demand before long, as stocks in some of the mills are getting low. The demand for fowl feed is rather better, though prices are low. We quote: Best velvet, 3s lid to 4s; best Tuscan, 3s lOd to 3s lid; fowls' wheat, 3s to 3s 4d. Oats.— The market remains quiet, but prices are without alteration. Stocks in growers' hands in Dunedin are light, and we expect to see better prices ruling. We quote: Best feed, 2s Id to 2s IJd per bushel; Sutherlands, 2s 3id to 2a 4Jd. liiuley: Feed sorts are quoted at 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; milling, 3s 3d to 4s ; malting, 4s 6d to ss. Ryecorn, 3s 3d to 3s 9d. Flour: We quote £12. Oatmeal in 25' e, £12 10s. Pearl barley, £15. Bran, £3. Pollard, £4. Nelson hops are quoted at Is 3d. Chaff: Prime, £3 12s 6d; medium, £3 ss. Ryegrass: The demand is not so keen as it was. We quote: Farmers' dressed, 2s to 3s 2d; machined, 3s 6d to 4s 6d. Cocksfoot, 8d to 3&d for farmers' lots, and 4§d to 5Jd for machined. Linseed (wanted), £12 to £13. Pressed straw, 25s to 27s 6d. Clover hay, .-Ci. Nit'nte of soda, £15. Clovers, rape, etc., just landing. Wo can offer all classes of seeds pure and fresh. Maige, 3s 6d per bushel; Prussian blue peas, 5s 6d per bushel. Seed Wheat.— We have some fine samples of velvet, Tuscan, &c, and shall be pleased to forward samples on application. Potatoes. — Owing to heavy arrivals from Canterbury, prices have given way. We quote:! Derwents, £6 10s to £6 15s per ton. Hides, ljd to 4d, according to weight ana condition. Tallow: Rough fat, 9s to 11s; rendered, 10s 6d to 15s, according to quality. Horsehair, Is to Is 3d. Rabbitskins.— We offered a fair catalogue on' Monday. Competition was not so keen as previously, and prices showed a slignt decline. We quote: Mixed winter bucks and does, 15d to 17d; selected does, to 18Jd; autumns, 8d to lid; summers, 6d to 8d; suckers and runners, 2d to 5d pel lb ; best blacks, 15jd ; fawns, 7£d. We sell by auction every Monday. Sheepskins. — The demand is very keen, and prices ruled firm at our sale on Tuesday. We quote: Dry crossbreds, 2s 6d to 5s 9d; inferior, Is 3d to 2s 4d; dry pelts, 4d to Is 3d; dry merinos, 2s 3d to ss; inferior, Is to 2s ; green crossbreds, 3s 9d to 4s 6d ; extra to 4* 9d; green lambskins, 2s 8d to 3s 4d each. We undertake country clearing sales. FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT. Butter.— Salt : Very little business doing; worth 7d to 7|d. Cheese. — Factory, 4Jd to 4^d. Pigs. — For good quality, 4Jd. Poultry received for sale any day. Roosters, 3s 6d to 4s 3d; hens, 2s 6d to 2s 9d; ducks (young), 4s 6d to ss, according to quality. Vickery's Egg Preservative. — This line ia selling freely. Those using it last season express satisfaction, and are again ordering. Early application necessary. Price 22s 6d per case (net), Bgal. Full particulars on application.
