SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 17.

The Aid to Public Works and Land Settlement Acts Amendment Bill, of which the Premier has just given notice, is being awaited with much interest. I understand the Opposition, before allowing the bill to pass, will insist upon full and definite information as to how the money is to be spent. Probably the Government will annex a schedule to the measure announcing bow much will go to railways and how much will be expended on each line, and stating the sum to be spent on roads and bridges and other works.
