In the Legislative Council on Thursday the In the Legislative Council yesterday the Banking Bill was reconsidered in Committee, and some alterations made, a limited power of veto being given to the auditor. The Juries Act Amendment Bill was also altered in Committee. The jurisdiction of justices of the peace to sit and hear indictable offences was abolished, and it was provided that m every case of committal for trial the indictment shall go direct to the higher court without the intervention of the Crown solicitor or any other person.
