There has been a rush of applicants for the governorship of the Melbourne Gaol, rendered vacant by the promotion of Mr R. H. Burrowes to the police, magistracy. The Italians of Wellington intend to present Mr C. H. Mills, M.H.R., with an illuminated address expressive of their hearty thanks for his exertions in connection with the liberation of Louis Chemis.
