THE HORSES TO BREED.

The three most needed kinds of horses at the present are the heavy, active, and showy draught ; saddle animal, and the carriage horse. The nearer the former will be to ths true Clydesdale the better. The saddle horse should be of strong constitution, well limbed, with moderately short back, and well put together, good for a weight jf 12st to list, and a long day's work — and hard work too. The carriage horse should be equally c£)le in all these ways and suitable for the quick and exacting work of remounts, as well as for the carriage of the well-to-do citizen, for which latter use the more showy ones are always saleable at high prices.
