DUNEDIN JOCKEY CLUB.
A meeting of the committee of the Dunedin Jockey Club was held last Thursday ; presentMessrs Gourley (chair), .Thomson, Oarr, Ooughlan, Taggart, Meenan, Miller, Short, and Solomon. Apologies were received from Messrs Myers, Grindley, and Dawson. It was reported that the following proposal had been forwarded to the Forbury Park Land Company on the 6th September from the club:— "That the club offer £15,000 for the property occupied by them, £10,000 to remain on mortgage for a fixed period, the balance, £5000, to be payable by yearly_ instalments as may be agreed upon, commencing after the third year ; the whole amount to bear interest at the rate of 4- per cent, per annum, and the Bale to date from 13th May, 1898 ; and that a reply be requested within one week." No acceptance of the above offer having been received, it was resolved — " That the architect be authorised to call for tenders for the grand stand, stewards' buildings, totalisator house, loose boxes, and fencing for the course at Wiueatuu"'
The Works Committee reported haying visited the Wingatui course on the previous day, and, after inspecting the sites for buildings and enclosures, recommended their approval ; also that Mr Wales be authorised to call for tenders for the formation of the lawn. — Resolved that the report be adopted.
