The ordinary meeting, held on Friday, May 27, was attended by the Commissioner '(Mr D. Barron) and Messrs A. Kinioss, D. King, and A. Baldey. Hugh Sutherland's section 11, block 11, Lillbuvn. wa3 forfeited. Klizaoatb. Browne applied to purchase Toi-Tois Island in Matsura River. — To be offered on grazing license at 10d per annum. 'he TJnder-aecretary of Lands wrote re proposal to sell islands in Matauva, River that such islands should be reserved for recreation purposes and assent to sale should be withheld in mean* time. — Government to be informed that the islands referred to, except that applied for by John Spratt, were not objects of beauty and were a nuisance to settler*, being covered with weeds and infested with rabbits. J. Snralt's will be. reserved. For illegal cutting on Crown lands adjoining sawmill areas 200 and 378, Longwood, and sawmill area 361, Winton forest, it was decided that the New Zealand Pine Company be charged £40 and £11 15s respectively for the trespasses. Re Stewart Island County Council's proposals for expenditure of "thirds" accrued to January 31, 1898, the receiver wa3 authorised to pay uvor. the amount (£5 7s 7d).

Mr Russell (for Anderson and Hiiper) And Edward Pay applied as to the valuation on section 10, block XXI If, Invercargill Hundred.-Both parties decided to accept the ranger's valuation. The ranger recommended, the leasing of sec* n12, block I, Aparima, to A. R. Hare for Ji me burning purposes, and suggested that the value of the limekiln erected by W. H Smith be arranged between the parties.— Section to be offered at auction for seven years at £115s per acre, parties to anange as to price of kiln, and section to be burdened accordingly. William Cusaen offered £5 for sleeper timber on section 58 t,nd 59, block V, Longviood.— Declined.

Arthur Perkins applied for section 31; block 111, Chatton.— Adjourned till next meeting for members to visit the land, the warden to be notified that Perkins withdraws his objection to O'Donnell's application and that Pacey has not appealed before the board or paid back rants or fees as undertaken by him.
