CO RKESFOUBENCE

Several agents wrote quoting prices for poisoned grain for small birds.-- -Received. The Commissioner of Crown Lauds forwntded statement- showing &H transactions in Otov/n lands in the county for fchepasbibi'ee months. — Received.

The Manawafcu County Council wrote askieg the assistance of the council in securing an amendment oi the law whereby tha interest; on loans under the Loans of Local Bodies Aofc might be raised by means of separate riding rates where the boundaries are coterminous vfith fche ridings. — Received.

A petition from Morgan, Williams, and eight cthsr# in Glenkenich Hiding w«s nob received, the member for the Mdijsg-no£ being prepared to endorse ifc, and acme of the parties signing nob being ratepayers. ENGINEES'S KRPOBT.

The Engineer in his raporfc detailed the contracts completed during the month, and the progress made with others. He also reported as follows 1—"1 — " I have inspected the road on which Mt Boyle applied to the council to have culverts oomteocted on one or two creeks fco psiinh of his getting bis oats carted home. The road line ia not fenced, and has been cultivated along with the adjoining land. Afc one angle I did nofc find fche pegs, consequently I could nofe determine exactly where the road line crossed fche creeks referred to, but in any caße they can be made passable nfc * very fctifling cost. I may observe fchafc alongside of this road lino there is » considerable »rea of land fife for cultivation. Mr Boyle has already broken up laud to the aasfc c? his oat paddock, and when he crops this land other culverts and formation will have fco be made.
