NEW ZEALAND NATIVES' ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the New Zea'and Natives' Association x? as he' d in the lower Choral Hall on the 26th ult., when there was a fair attendance of menibers. Mr Wither", who was in the chair, read the draft of rules, &c, covering the objects of :the association. Referring to the rules", the Chairman said it was propoted to meet fortnightly in winter nvd moath'y in sumaer, and that the meetings would be coi ducted somewhat on the_ lines of the Savage Club, tbe programme to include addresses, recitations, and vocal and instruaarntal music. Hi looked forward to the time when they would have prensines of their own, in which reading and other rooncs would be established. rlher lhe subscription was fixed low to induce all New Zealand natives to join the association. Since last the Provisional Committee had not been idle, and had htld several meetings to prepare the rules, &?., which they would see differed somewhat from tbe Wellington acd Christcbmch centres, iuasmuoh as^theDunediu association would be purely native, as they did not; propose to admit honorary members The committee had been successful in inducing several well-known, influential gentlemen to allow themselves to be nominated to the offices of president and -vice-president A conference of- delegates would meet ia Wellington sonrtj ■ t'me during the j ear, -and .they -would be-asked 'to "send (wo - delegates. "Badges- would* be" ordered &t ooce, and. upon receipt would bo" distributed amongst members on •parmeot-of a j gum of" '2s for eacb" badge. Books of rales would also be printed as soon as -possible and " distributed to all member?. The election of < flicers was nest proceeded with, when tbe following w*re elected :—: — Preeirent, Mr A. C. Hanlon ; vice- president i — Blears C. M. Mouaf, D. Ktid, juu., T. K. Bidey, and Dr Fulton ; secretary, Mr Tbotnaa Jet. kins : treasurer, Mr D. Duncan ;-au"di tors, Messrs J. Brcwu and (?. E. Brown ; committee — Messrs G. Scurr, Burge.ES. J. TL'. Thompson, F. H. C«mpbell, Le Pine, J. M'Arfhur, E. Wirhrrs, J. Edwards, H. Davi?, and C. Arlidge.
