MACRAES FLAT.

April 12 —The weather continue? dry, with slight frost? at night, and the prospect of grass for th«s winter is bad, as the season is too far advanced to give much prospect of any growth of feed, so that unless we are to have a mild winter and an early spriug the outlook is not a very bright one. Farmers are busy threshing, and the yield is a good one cons ; dering the year. The turnip crop is much better than it at one time promisedtobe.

Social. — On Monday Mr and Mrs Peddie, sen., an old and much respected couple, gave a dance and supper on the occasion of their youngest son's marriage with Miss Thompson, of Milton. A large number of euests were invited, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The young couple received congratulations on all sides, which were sincerely deserved, and I have no_ doubt tho parents were pleased to find that their son's conduct is so highly commended by- those who know him. The newly-wedded couple go to Nonthom and take up hou c e, where Mr David Peddie, along with his stalwart brothers, is successfully engaged in mining operations. It i& pleasing to relate that a they start housekeeping with every thing that is necessary to furnish a house in all its details, presented to them by their friend 3, aud that they also haye their best wishes for long life, health, and happiness.
