THE FURNITURE TRADE.

The application made by the Duuedin United Furniture Trades Union of workers to h'ava the matter of the trade agreement effecting the workers inquired into before the Industrial Conciliation Board is to be heard at the Supreme Court on Thursday, the 11th of February. The original agreement, which has been already published, has been filed in the Supreme Court, and the object of the application is bn enforce the signatures to that agreement of 'he firms that have so far declined to bo bound by it. The firms which have declined to sign are the following: — Brundelland Hay ward, George street ; John Shaw, St. Andrew street ; John Gillies, Geerge street ; F. A. Hooper and Co., Octagon; A. Lorie and Co., Princes street; P. Laing, Rattray street ; Alex. W*tfc, Stafford street; and V. C. Martin, Moray place. Tho Board of Conciliation which is to inquire into the matter consists of Messra W. A. Sim, G. L. Sise, G. P. Farquhar, J. A. Millar, M.H.K, and Robert Ferguson. The sitting will commence at 11 o'clock, and will be open to the nublic. If the Board of Conciliation cannot bring about » settlement then it will be open to either party to proceed under the compulsory clauses of the act to the Arbitration Court. The seamen's dispute is to come before the same board at the Supreme Courthouse to-morrow (Thursday).
