Lakes Wanaka and Hawera.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib,— Under the heading of "Current Topics" in your issue of the 12th mat. your comments in connection with Lord Brasaey'i visit to Lake Wakatipu would lead to the inference that the southern lake system is limited to Wakatipu, Manapouri, and Te Anau. Admitting as correct all you bate said in pr*ise of their beauty, you are unquestionably at fault in describing them as the whole group. Lakes Wanaka and Ha we a also have an existence, and have usually been coupled with the more southern lakes when spoken of as a group — Lake Wanaka especially for varied alpine grandeur, brightness and sunshine may easily vie with either of them.——I am, he, Pembroke, Jan. 18. R. M*DOUOAT4<. P.S.— ln so far as Wakatipu, Wanaka, ihd Hawea Lakes are concerned, you will find that at Cromwell Nature has done the grouping a> the waters of all three blend together, flow* ing onwatdi to the oceiro.— R, M'Dfc
