THE DEERING POST BINDER.
A very successful trial was given on Thursday of the Deering "Pony" Reaper and Binder by the agents (Messrs Reid and Gray) in the paddock of oats belonging to Mr Robert; Brims, opposite the Junction Hotel. The crop operated upon was cut on the green side, and in some places proved to be a very heavy ono. Tho '.'Pony " opened out, making a track completely round the paddock, which evoked the remark from the veteran Bob Brim* ."I have had all makes of reapers and binders cutting here, but none have ever done this but tho • Pony.' " The scene of operations wa» visited during the day by a Urge number of farmers attending the stock sale in the yard* opposite, who were all well pleased at the work the machine was doing, and greatly surprised at the lightness and draught, due to its ball and roller bearings, which reduca the draught fully oni-third. It is aleo particularly adapted to heavy crops, its elevator extensions permitting long grain to reach the binding mechanism without being doubled up in binding. The "Pony" is made particularly light, the result of using good ateel and malleable instead of cast iron, and for the same, reason is a very strong machine. It is the ideal binder for hilly
land, because of its low centre of gravifcj, which I makes it less likely to tip on a hillside. — ' N. O. Times.
