ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET.
Christcuuhch, May 6. There were heavy yardings at the Addington market to-day, and the sale was not finished till after dark. Business on the whole showed a healthy tone, but many Hne3 were withdrawn, salesmeß not caring to submit them by torchlight.
Fat Cattle.— 2oo head were yarded. The demand was fairly active for best sorts. Steers, £5 17s 6d to £8 ; heifers, £4 12s 6d to £6 10s ; cows, £3 12s 6d to £6.
Fat Sheep.— A very heavy entry. The market for freezing sorts was somewhat irreguhr, and prices if anything were slightly easisr. All really prime ewe mutton was eagerly competed for by the trade. Secondary quality sold fairly well on the whole, but inferior sorts could only be quitted at a reduction on the rates recently ruling. Best Ueavy-weight crossbred wethers, 14s to 16s ; prime freezing wethers, 12a 9d to 14s 6d ; do mixed sexes, Us to 13s 6d ; medium wethers, 9a-Io lls'9d ; piime heavy-weight young ewes, 12s to 14s ; best quality aged ewes, 9a to lls ; medium trade ewes, 7e 9d to 10s 3d : merino wethers, 7s to 7s 6d ; ewes, 6b to 7s (Jd. Fat Lambs.— A heavy entry. Good sorts about held their own, but othera were hard to quit. Prime lambs, 9a to 12s ; medium. 7s 6d to 8s 6d : others, 5s 6d to 6s 9d. Pigs —A heavy j arding caused matters to be sliebtly easier for all but really well-finished animals. - Prime grain fed baconera, 3d per lb j good porkers, 2}d to 3d.
