WEEKLY MARKET REPORT.
• Messrs Mqriizson and Hopkin, Dunedin, report (wholesale) as follows for week ending May 6, 1896. All quotations subject to market fluctuations : —
Business during the week has been very good. Oats continue brUk, and we can hardly supply demand, and can place all coming forward. We can place at once 10,000 sacks. We have also inquiry for Danish and long Tartarians for seed purposes. We would also ask farmers when sending lamples always to put a piice on them, as buyers do not feel inclined to make offers.
Wheat : We quote beßt velvet 33 7d to 3s 8d ; beet Tuscans, 3$ 6d to 3s 7d ; red chaff, 3s id to 3s 5d ; fowls' wheat, 2s lOd to 3s. Oats : Prime in ill- . iDg, Is 10d; bright short feed. Is 9d to Is 10d; ordinary feed. Is 8d to Is BJq\ Barley : ,Feed sorts are quoted 2s 2d to 2s 4d ; malting, from 3s 6d to 4b. Rye corn, 2s 3d to 2s 9d. Flour: We quote £9 10*. Oatmeal in 25's. £9 10s. Pearl barley, £12 10i Bran, £3 10s. Pollard, £4 ss. Nelson hops : New season's tin the market, and are quoted at lOd. We just landed 20 bales from Nelson. Potatoes : Derwenta, £2 10s to £2. 12s 6d ; extra prime. £2 155. Chaff : Prime quality, well-cut oaten' sheaf, 60s to 523 6d. Ryegraes : Farmers' lots, 2s > to 2s lOd ; machined, 3s 3d to 43. Cocksfoot, 3d to 3Jd for 16)b seed. We have a big demand, and did large buaine'S during the week. Linseed : New crop not to hind yet Pressed straw, 3§a -6d. Clovbrbay, £.} We receive rabbitskins, hides, sheepskins, and tallow, and return highest market values. Hides wanted, at 2Jd to 3d per lb for good quality. We have sold this week a large quantity of hides and gkins at satisfactory prices, and have a good demand to supply for orders. We hold weekly sales. Cornsacks, seedsacks, woolpacks, and seaming twine at market rates. Ciown sheep dip, in sgal drums, 5a 6d per gallon ; in larger quantities, 5a per gallon. Rabbitskins —We have to report having held our weekly 3»le on Monday, when there was a ' very noticeable improvement upon last week's lales. We quote- Best spunks, 7d to 9ld;-full-" rro\vn summer*^ 5Jd ta 6d ; autumns, 7d to Md ; winters, lOtd ; silver greys and fawns. -up tolOd. Sheepskins.— We have to report having held our weekly sale od Tuesday, when last week's prices were well sustained, there being very few skim in the market We quote: Fullwoolled merino, 4Jd to 5Jd per lb; half- . woolled merino, 3Jd to 4Jd : prime full- woolled -crossbred, 6Jd to 6id: half- woolled orosabred, Id to sdj green lamb skins, best, 2s 9d to 3s; »edium,-l» 9d te &6di abort and pelts, 2^d to
4d. Butcher skins ! Full-wooHed, 3s fid to 63 ; short and pelts, 7d to la 6d. Horsehair, Is to] 8 2Jd. FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT. . Butter : Salt— Good quality i« saleable at 7£d to 8d per lb. Wo have good inquiry for prime quality. Chebsb : Good Akaroa, 3Jd ; factory, 3Jd. Pigs : 3d for good quality. Beeswax wanted, Is to'ls Id per lb. Poultry received for -Sale any days but Saturdays.
