AnuL 29.— The weather continues most unsettled, as has been the case* for months past, entailing serious loss on all concerned. Pish also are very scarce, fiven when the wind ttnd sea moderate sufliciently for pursuit of the deoizans of the deep the " takes " are surprisingly small: and, notwithstanding the presence of several buyeni armed with unlimited orders and cash, the supply has been insignificant, and prices therefore show a distinctly upward tendency. The present will be long remembered as the worst season known for many years, and a severe winter is predicted by the Maoris.
