COLLIERY EXPLOSION.

♦ London, April 30. An explosion oconrred at a colliery at Micklefields. One hundred men are co« tombed. Mayl. Of the 100 men entombed in the colliery at Mioklesfield 40 bave been rescued, but the chance of the others being got out alive -to hopeless. TOUR OF THE MINISTER FOB LANDS. (Fbom Our Own Cokbespondent.) Hide, May 1. The Hon. J. M'Kenzie returned to Naseby on Thursday night from St. Bathan*, and left in the morning for Hyde. He met several deputations at Ryans, and arrived at Hyde in the afternoon, where he was met and welcomed by & large number of his constituents. In the evening he addressed a meeting at LaverfcyV Hall. Mr P. Einney presided, and standing room was scarcely available. On the appear* auce of the Minister he reoeived a great demonstration. He spoke for two and a-halC hours, and was very well received. At tha conclusion Mr Prendergast moved a vote of thanks to the Hon. Mr M'Kenzie for his address, confidence as their repreientative, and confidence in the Government. This was carried unanimously.

Hampdbn, May 4. The Hon. J. M'Kenzie addressed his constituents at Hampden this evening, Mr W. Murcott (mayor) presiding. There was a large attendance, several ladies being present. At the conclusion of the address Mr D. Gillies moved, and Mr David Munro- seconded, a hearty vote of thanks, a vote of confidence as representative, and a vote of confidence in tha Government. Me John Douglass (blacksmith, Hampden} moved, and Iklr James B. Moodia (clerk, Moeraki station) seconded, an amendment of nc-oocfidence.
