WAIHOLA,
May s.— On Saturday night a most successfa Bruce auction was held in the schoolhouse. Me J. W. Wilson, auctioneer, of Balclutha, kindly gave his servmes. £15 was realised iv aid of tbe organ fund, which is very satisfactory. "On Sunday, the Rev. Mr Uhisholm, of Milton, bel<L tha service ia the chur. h. He is acting as moderator, and preached the charge vacant. After the eervice a congrf gational meeting was hold, at which, on the motion of Mr it. Adams, seconded by Mr Beaton, the following resolution was carried unanimously :— " That a call bo given, to the Rev. James Somsrville, atpresont asting as a-aistant of • Knox'Church; arid a son of Dr Somerville. of this place." At Otakla and Taieri Beach a unanimous call was also given, so that Mr Somerville will start, if- he decides to accept the -.call, under the most favourable auspices, and with the good will of all the district.
