( (Mat i.— His M'lnue-, wife of Mr Murdoch M'lnneß, died somewhat suddenly at her residence, Otiake, ou the 20 th ult. Duceased seemed in good health and spirits on Monday morning, but at about 10 o'clock she complained of having great pain, and continued to grow worse during the day, dying at about 930 p.m. She was about 65 yeara-of age. She was a native of the Isle of Skye, and came to New Zealand some 20 years ago with her husband and family of seven, all of whom survive her. Sha also leaves about 20 grandchildren. Mrs M'lnnes waa one of the first settlers in Otiake, and the hich esteem in which she was held was shown by the large number of friends and relatives who came to show their last respects, her funeral being one of the laigest that ever passed through Kurow She was a good neighbour, and a kind and affectionate mother, Rod will not soon be forgotten in our distiict
