It is thought thai a sufficient number of members will be enrolled without any difficulty. —Taieri Advocats. At Raversbourne on Friday last Dr M'Kellar delivered his second lecture to the women's class. The subjret was hemorrhage, and at the conclusion practical work was gone '> through. ! Tbe classes for men and women which have been conducted at Balclutha, by Dr Fleming will be brought to a clot-e next week. -.The examinations are now being arranged for. The scarcity of the St. John Ambulance Association's text book (Shepbard's " First Aid") is causing some inconvenience amongst those atteneling classes. The unprecedented demand which hs.s taken place this season ia accountable for the locul supply running short. It is hoped, however, that there will bo a plentiful supply of books in a week or two. The women's afternoon first-aid class, which has been instructed by Dr Clews, will undergo examination on T&ursda? next at the hands of Drs Fulton and Macphersou. Owing to the inclement weather there was but a poor attendance at the E&et Taieri class on Monday evening, and instead of taking up the usual lecture Dr Allan engaged those present in practical work, and in revising the work covoreu by the preceding lectures. The first lecture to the men's class of the Mosgiel brauch of th« St. John Ambulance As'oci%ticn was delivered by Dr Allan on Friday evening in the Mosgiel School, when there was a large attendance. The lecture was both interes'ing and instructive, and at the conclu«iou some practical work was carried out. — Taieri Advocate. The usual weekly lecture to members of tbe Weft Harbour branch was delivered by Dr Smith on Tuesday to a fine attendance. The subject of the lecture was " Fractures." The doctor explained how to treat such accidents in his usual lucid manner, and after bis departure Mr A. Mitchell gave practical evidence of the tre&tmeut necessary as explained by the doctor. At Milton on Friday Dr Sutherland delivered the eeceud of the sovo of lecture* to the women's class. Practical work was also gone through. At the Y.W.C A. Rooms on Thursday evening Dr Brown delivered his final lecture to the women' 6 class. There vrne a large attendance of mrmbera, and at tbe conclusion of the leoture Mils Hooper, on behalf of those who have been attending the c!a*s, presented Dr Brown with a Bilver-noouutfid iukitand as a slight memento of the course ot instruction just completed. Dr Brown thanked the ladiee fur their present. Next week the class will mett for practical instruction, and on Thursday, July 4, the examination will be conducted by Drs Colqubouu and Rcherte, At tbe Fire Brigade station oa Friday evening Dr Stenboutt) delivered the nr»t of a courso cf ambulance lectures for men This courte of instruction has been *rrfcwg«-«J bf the Central Committee^ in consequence of the demand for members' tickets, and »I«o to mctt thfl convenience of a number cf mining etu<Jent« ut the Otage University. The lecturer followed the lines laid down in the association's gyllabus, entering fully into details. The skeleton imported from London by the Central Committee for instruction purposes was used for the first time. The second lecture will be delivered on Friday next. Dr Stenhome examined the Hillside class on Wednesday last, and the result mil be duly announced.
