Messrs Wright, Stepiienson, and Co. report as follows :— By order of the executors of the late E. W. Humphreys we offered for sale by auction at
our rooms High street, on Saturday Aftern«% the unsold portion of the well-known Garthmfi estate, Stratn-Taieri— say, 822 acres. There was* fair attendance at the sale, amongst them several buyers, but as the difference as to the valu« betw een th< ir ideas and those of the executor* was considerable no business resulted, but nego» tiations are now in progress for the sale of th« homestead block, 442 acres or thereabouts, also fof some of the unsold sections in tho northern block.
