AUCKLAND WOOL SALES.

Auckland, December 13. — The first wool sale of the season was held to-day, when 4365 bales were offered, and 4000 sold. There was a large attendance of buyers, representing not only local but southern and Australian linns as well. Competition was keen and biisk up to a certain limit, and this limit in many cases was beyond that obtained last year. This was particularly noticeable in crossbreds and longwools, which averaged \& per lb higher ; merinos were somewhat at a discount, and there was no marked advance in the higher qualities of wool. On the whole the sale is regarded as satisfactory.
