FRUIT AND PRODUCE REPORT.
Thomas Paterson and Co., fruit and produce agents, Manse street, report for week ending December 13 :— Oranges —Market barely supplied, but owing to soft fruit being now available have slow sale at 10s. I emons (short supply), 14s ; Italian, 28s. Bananas, 2d to 2£d. Good supply now in market. Cherries arrived this week in very poor condition. 10s for prime dry fruit ; 2s to Ss others. Plums. — Cherry plums, 4s to 5s Gd ; black do, 5s 6d. Strawberries.— Supplies are now falling off, and the market has a decidedly firmer tone. Jam berries, 4Ad to sd ; first-class dessert, 5d to 6d. Gooseberries, Id to lid. Tomatoes, Is. Grapes, 2s 6d. Black and Red Currants, 3d to 4d. Produce. — Eggs have risen and in good demand, •Fresh butter, 5Ad to Sd ; prime readily saleable. Salt butter, 6d to Bd. Bacon : Roll, 6d to 6Jd. Hams, 7id to 9d. Pi^s, 3d to 3}d. Cheese : New Akaroa, 4\d ; factory, 4\d to sd. Honey, did to 4d. Beeswax, Is Id. Onions (new), 16s to 20s. Potatoes : Old Derwents have no sale ; new Peninsula, kidneys, 10s to 12s ; northern range from £7 to £9. Chaff, 50s to 05s. Poultry has good demand at full rates.
