THE RIVERTON SHOW.
(From Ovn Own Correspondent.) Invehcargill, December 6
The thirteenth annual show of the Western District Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held at Otautau to-day, and, though the weather was windy and cold, with occasional showers, it was a great success as regards attendance, and especially so as to the number and high merits of many of the exhibits, visitors from Christchurch and Dunedin maintaining that the draught stock aud light horse exhibits were superior to those at any show this season. Nicely arranged and timed railway excursiou trains from Invercargill, Riverton, and Nightcaps are accountable for the good attendance. The entries largely exceeded those of previous years. Strange to say, though the show was held in the very centre of some of the best Lincoln flocks in the colony — notably the Sutton family,— there were practically no exhibits in this class. Another feature was Messrs John Reid and Sons' display of Shropshire Downs, which carried all before them, and Mr A. R. Hare's (of Blackmouut and Fairfax) exhibit of crossbred sheep, a breed he has built up from the best ntraiu of Lincoln? and merinos, with a judicious use of rams from the celebrated btud crossbred flock of Mr Little of Canterbury.
