A TALE OF THE SEA.
A Board of Trade inquiry was held at Liverpool on October 4 into the loss by stranding of the ship Duchess of Albany of that port, and a remarkable tale was told by the master, Captain "Wilson. He was on a voyage from Rio to Valparaiso, got into thick weather, missed his course, and on the early morning of the 13th July stranded near Cape St. Vincent, on the eastern coast of Tierra del Fuego He and his crew, 28 all told, safely landed in two boats. Found timber, made a tire, and spent the night. Next morning the captain wished to continue in the boats and make for the Argentine Government station at Thetis Bay, but 17 of hia crew refused to go in the boats, saying they would go overland, as they had provisions and matches and axes. The captain and 10 of his crew then left, and after two days made Thetis Bay station. Search parties were organised, but only one man named "V^illoughby, who had crossed a deep and rapid stream which the others would not face, was found, and he reported that the others had gone back to try in the other direction. The search was continued up to the 27th, when the Argentine Government steamer came, and her captain insisted on taking away Captain Wilson and his men, saying that the natives would bring the others in. Captain Wilson added his own belief that the missing men would bo rescued. The inquiry was adjourned.
